The introduction to the EW comments on the next album are revealing: “Mature lyrics, well-considered covers, and rich neo-traditional arrangements that result in songs rather than singles ... Revolution is what happens when one of Nashville's most uncompromising young talents decides to grow up.”
They’re talking about 26-year-old
Miranda Lambert who, despite retaining so many of the attractive characteristics of a country singer - love ballads and heart-broken refrains - can also sing of female independence in such a way it seems as natural as Bessie Smith singing the blues.
