As parts 1 to 8 have shown, the tight-trouser and male whine of the indie band is, thankfully, an aberration of the past. We’re back to hype and marketing, we fear, with the San Francisco duo Girls - two boys going for an artsy-indie name - and their album called Album - going for the artsy-indie mocking approach.
The Girls style of neo-punk-slash-indie has all been done before. But, and it’s a big BUT in our new YouTube-takes-over-from-MTV music viewing world, the Larry Clark-style videos must be the appeal for many people. Our rating: 2 Stars for the music, 4 Stars for the videos
