American Idol has been ruling the roost in the home television arena in the United States for the past 9 years. Talent is spread everywhere and finding the future superstars is the mantra of this competitive reality show.
The first episode of American Idol was aired on June 11 2002 on the Fox channel and was originally created by Simon Fuller, a versatile TV show creator. Ever since its launch in the television media, it toppled many TV shows and has been the number 1 TV show in the whole of America.T
The crew of American Idol conduct numerous auditions across the country and select at least 200 contestants from each city. The audition is merely a selection round to test whether the contestant is good enough to deliver quality. The contestants are strictly in the age range of 16-28 years.
Once the candidates clear the audition round, then it is the time for them to be popular among the masses. Yes, once they get through the first round they will be called to the studio to perform in front of the panel of judges. Some candidates become superstars with the public, if not the judges.
The process of elimination goes on for many weeks and may include a wildcard round in which candidates eliminated earlier have a last chance to come into the semi-finals and compete with the finalists. The winner is decided on the basis of the highest number of telephone votes received from the public.
